Considerando um sistema com entrada X e sa\u00edda Y, o ganho \u00e9 a&nbsp;raz\u00e3o&nbsp;entre a amplitude de varia\u00e7\u00e3o em Y e a amplitude de varia\u00e7\u00e3o em X. Para um resultado adimensional, X e Y devem estar em escalas normalizadas. Na&nbsp;figura abaixo a vaz\u00e3o no duto \u00e9 proporcional a abertura da v\u00e1lvula. Suponha que para uma abertura da v\u00e1lvula de 20% para 40%, a vaz\u00e3o tenha aumentado de 250 para 300 m3\/h. Um exemplo \u00e9 dado abaixo, onde a a\u00e7\u00e3o (acr\u00e9scimo na velocidade do alimentador) gera um aumento de material sobre a correia mas que s\u00f3 \u00e9 percebida pela balan\u00e7a ap\u00f3s o material ser transportado at\u00e9 ela. Manifestam-se das seguintes formas:\n<ul>\n<li>Sistemas mec\u00e2nicos: in\u00e9rcia<\/li>\n<li>Sistemas el\u00e9tricos: capacitores<\/li>\n<li>Sistemas flu\u00eddicos: tanques<\/li>\n<li>Sistemas t\u00e9rmicos: capacit\u00e2ncia t\u00e9rmica<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Por outro lado, as partes do processo que resistem \u00e0 transfer\u00eancia de energia ou material s\u00e3o chamadas de resist\u00eancias. Estas se apresentam das seguintes formas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>Sistemas mec\u00e2nicos: atrito<\/li>\n<li>Sistemas el\u00e9tricos: resistores<\/li>\n<li>Sistemas flu\u00eddicos: perdas de carga<\/li>\n<li>Sistemas t\u00e9rmicos: resist\u00eancia t\u00e9rmica<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">O efeito combinado das propriedades de resist\u00eancia e capacit\u00e2ncia determina&nbsp;o <em>atraso de transfer\u00eancia<\/em> do sistema. Em&nbsp;termos pr\u00e1ticos, corresponde a uma&nbsp;transfer\u00eancia gradual entre os sinais de entrada e sa\u00edda de um sistema. Por exemplo, em um sistema onde o sinal de entrada \u00e9 o fluxo de enchimento de um recipiente fechado, e a sa\u00edda \u00e9 o volume deste recipiente, temos claramente um rela\u00e7\u00e3o de integra\u00e7\u00e3o.
